Jan is a Professor of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University, where she is on the faculty of the doctoral program in School Psychology. A licensed psychologist, for 18 years she maintained a part-time private practice specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents, and families. Dr. Hughes’s research focuses on the development, assessment, and treatment of children’s social, emotional, and behavioral disorders, and on the prevention of conduct problems in youth. Author of more than 120 refereed journal articles and books, her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Education, and other agencies. A Fellow of the American Psychological Association, she has served in many national leadership roles in Psychology and is the recipient of national awards for research and service to the profession.
