April Lisbon-Peoples is currently a school psychologist with DC Public Schools. She has served in the role of school psychologist since 2000 and has worked in Virginia, Arizona, Nevada, and DC. She completed her Ed.D. in Education form Northeasterrn University. She earned her Ed.S. from The Florida State University with an emphasis in School Psychology. April has a variety of interests as related to working with children and families with disabilities. As an educational advocate, it is April's hope to create more community based support groups for parents of children with disabilities who are unable to financially fund outside therapeutic services for their children. She has two beautiful children, one with high functioning autism. April's ongoing mission in life is to support and advocate for all children, especially those with disabilities. April has professional training as a career coach and has used her training to create a curriculum for students with and without disabilities. Currently, she conducts bi-weekly career trainings for teen mothers at an alternative high school within an urban school setting.
